Acanthosis Nigricans

Acanthosis nigricans is a condition where light - brown to black skin marks can be seen on the back and sides of the neck. This disorder can also occur in underarms and in the groin. This condition begins at any age. The exact cause of this condition is unknown. It is sometimes associated with endocrine disorder or tumor. It is also said to be caused by overweight. When acanthosis nigricans develop, a medical examination should be done to check gland disorder or tumor in the patient.

Retin -A, 15 % urea, Alpha hydroxyacid and salicyclic acid are some of the medicines that improve this condition. But there is no cure for acanthosis nigricans. Overweight individuals can try to lose weight to improve this condition. Incase, acanthosis nigricans is caused by tumor or a gland disorder then correction of that problem will cure this condition as well.
