Atopic Dermatitis

Atopic dermatitis is also called eczema. This is a severe form of dermatitis characterized by atopy. It is a skin disorder that causes itching, thickening and scaling of the skin. This condition occurs especially in areas such as the face, elbows, knees and arms. This is an allergic response in the skin causing itching and flaking .It is most common in infants, and mostly lasts until they reach adolescence.

The condition may be both acute and chronic. If it is short term, then it is called acute and if it is long -term then it is called chronic. This disorder of the skin is also considered to be related to malfunction of the immune system. By and large, it is treated with topical anti- inflammatory medications or by prescription. There are also lots of natural remedies for eczema. It is non- contagious occurring as a reaction to many endogenous and exogenous agents.
