Diaper Dermatitis

Diaper dermatitis is also called as diaper rash. It causes irritation of skin and rashes .It generally occurs in infants, young children and paralyzed individuals. This condition is especially common in infants lesser than 2 years of age. It may also continue even after the child stops wearing diapers. In serious cases, the condition becomes difficult to treat especially if the area becomes infected or the patient becomes allergic to the medications. Sometimes antibiotics treatments can also cause this disease.

When the natural oil in the skin is removed, it results in diaper dermatitis. This disease can be prevented by using absorbent disposable diapers. Similarly application of powder should be avoided as it might cause rashes. Triple paste ointment can be used to prevent rashes. Lotrimin cream can be used to cure diaper rash. However it is best to approach a doctor in extreme cases as it might result in allergy or infection.
