Herpes Zoster

Herpes Zoster is also called as shingles. It is a nerve infection caused by the chicken -pox virus. Shingles is caused due to the reactivation of the chicken - pox virus. It is caused by the chicken - pox virus that remained in your body even after the healing of chicken pox several years ago.

Shingles begin as red patches and further develop into blisters mostly on one side of the body. It may remain small or can develop into big rash. It will take two to four weeks for them to heal completely. They may also leave scars. Many people have the wrong idea that shingles is caused by nervousness. But it is only the viral infection of a nerve and has nothing to do with nervousness. But it can cause damage to the nerve and also can prove to be painful. The reason is the virus travels along the nerve to get to the skin resulting in inflammation.
