Hidradenitis suppurativaHidradenitis is a condition where chronic scarring and pus formation happens in the axillae and groin areas .It is a chronic disease of the scent or apocrine glands. It is similar to acne in the sebaceous glands. It is common among African - Americans and women. It begins as one or more red, tender swellings in the groin or axilla. After sometime, the lesions enlarge and open to the skin surface draining clear to yellow fluid. The affected areas heal after sometime with scarring. This condition continues for years and will be in remission and flare up.The causes for this condition are many. Plugging and clogging of the apocrine glands for the people with hidradenitis leads to bacterial infection producing pain and odor. This condition becomes worse with overweight but it is not caused by obesity. It is more common among people with acne and high stress levels. The notable feature is it is not caused by poor hygiene.
