This fungus affects the hair and scalp resulting in rashes. Tinea capitis is very common in preschool- age and adolescence. It is contagious as it spreads through combs, brushes, caps, pillow covers, chair cloths and other inanimate objects. It is treated with antifungal creams and lotions.Oral treatments such as Griseofulvin are also given for 8 weeks. The oral medication should be taken for the entire 8 weeks. If the patient fails to take them for the entire period, then he should face treatment failures. Nizoral shampoo is very popular to treat this condition.
